A message from LHSL Graduation Committee Chairman, Laura House:
Graduating our students is the culmination of incredible efforts invested by home educating parents and their children. Watching them grow into the men and women God designed them to be is truly a privilege. We hope your family will join us in honoring the 2009 graduates in our region. In addition to a memorable ceremony, we will also be holding a reception afterward giving us the opportunity to congratulate and celebrate with the graduates and their families. Please plan to attend the upcoming parent/student meeting if you have a child who will be graduating with Class of ‘09 Seniors or who is currently a Junior or Sophomore. See upcoming meeting details below…
Pomp & Circumstance
Graduates will don cap and gown for this ceremony which will contain memorable moments such as our speaker, Pastor Marc Jantomaso, special music, photo presentations of each student, and the long awaited moment of receiving a diploma from their parents. We will join the graduates for a reception following the ceremony where they will have the opportunity to share a display of pictures, hobbies, and other momentos as they wish.
As of January 1, 2009, we have about 10 graduating seniors planning to participate. There are many more seniors in our area who may not be award of the opportunity as it is our first year to conduct a community-wide graduation. Please share this information your circle of friends. If you have a graduating Senior, we would love to have your family join us for this very special occasion!

As homeschool families, our children often learn in multi-age settings, we hope you’ll join in and celebrate this year’s Seniors that way too!
We’ll take time to ‘tassel’ the Graduation programs, discuss ceremony hosting duties for the Junior and Sophomore classes, and answer any remaining questions from families.
- Please Bring a Potluck Dish to Share & Table Service for Your Family
- Lemonade, Water & Ice Provided
- Bring Footballs & Frisbees • Capture the Flag • Playground for Younger Siblings
- Gary & Laura House will be hosting at Peaks View Park
- Wiggington Road park entrance, smaller pavillion near tennis courts

JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES, You’re Invited to Participate in Festivities Too… Please Don’t Miss Your Information Below!
Class of 2009 Registration
- Central Virginia Homeschool Graduation encourages ALL Lynchburg and surrounding area Seniors to register!
- If you have not yet submitted the following items, please contact the Graduation Committee regarding the best way to send as Graduation is quickly approaching: lhslgraduation@yahoo.com
- Needed from each family: 25 pictures of your graduate, from childhood to present, for the photo presentation that will play as they walk to receive their diploma from you. Please number them in order you’d like them displayed. Snapshots are fine.
- Needed from each family: CD with a particular song the graduate would like playing during their photo presentation. Optional.
- Needed from each family: Any photos of graduates with family and friends for inclusion in the pre-ceremony photo presentation that will play as families arrive.
- Submit information to be included in ceremony program. The program will include each graduate’s photo, favorite Bible verse, and a paragraph regarding their post-graduation plans or whatever they’d like to share. Request/submit forms here: lhslgraduation@yahoo.com
- Needed from each family: $40 check to help cover graduation expenses. If we have any funds leftover, they will be placed in an account to assist with expenses for future ceremonies as needed.
- If your family could not attend the February meeting, but would like to be involved, please notify the LHSL Graduation Committee ASAP as registration is still underway, but the ceremony date is quickly approaching: lhslgraduation@yahoo.com

Juniors & Sophomores, You’re Invited to Participate Too!
As homeschool families, our children often learn in multi-age settings, we hope you’ll join in and celebrate this year’s Seniors that way too!
The Class of 2009 invites our Junior and Sophomore classes to join in ceremony festivities by assisting with the following:
- Ceremony Programs (assemble and disburse)
- Ushering
- Reception Service
- Decor, Set-up and Clean-up

We are looking forward to this wonderful celebration and we hope ALL of our local families, particularly those with teens, will plan to attend!
Teen & Family Activities
Activities for Homeschool Teens
& Their Families
Teen fellowship activities are also being scheduled throughout the year for the purpose of creating a cohesive teen community, including families of teens, in preparation and support for all upcoming Central Virginia Homeschool Graduation ceremonies for 2009 and beyond. As this is the first year Lynchburg Home School Leaders is holding a graduation ceremony and the teens and families may not know each other well being from diverse churches, neighborhoods, and homeschool organizations in the Lynchburg area, we would like to provide opportunities for teens of all ages, and their families, to join in fellowship and also bring in the Junior class to help serve through this event for the Senior class.
And, most importantly, the Senior class parents are the ones graduating their sons and daughters and they are especially needed to plan and organize this annual event with support from the Junior class students and families. We hope all area families of homeschool teens will want to be included on the CVHG contact list to receive graduation and teen fellowship activity information as it becomes available.

This teen and family fellowship will be movie and game night at Believers Fellowship AND it will be the last time we formally gather before the Class of ‘09 teens graduation on May 30th.
